Losses of many kinds, loneliness and anxieties can make it a difficult season to make it through.   If you feel that way, too, you may want to join us for our BLUE CHRISTMAS service, and celebrate Christmas in a manner that feels more appropriate to you.
Please join us on December 10. We start at 7:30 pm. Come as you are.

Grab a coffee and a cookie at our booth (also free) and let us know where you’re from and what you do – or don’t do.

And while you’re there, why not stay a little longer to roam around and check out the many other participants’ booths. From Community Centres to local Sports Clubs, from Emergency Services to organic gardening – and anything in between (including us). There’s great food, you’ll meet many familiar faces and may pick up some good ideas.

On Friday, March 1, the worldwide community of churches celebrate WORLD DAY OF PRAYER. Please join us for an ecumenical service, this time hosted by St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church on Townline Rd. in Baird, at 7:00 pm.

World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement of Christian women of many traditions who welcome all to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday of March. It is an ecumenical movement that brings together women of various races, cultures, and traditions in closer fellowship, understanding and action throughout the year.

This prayer day’s motto of “Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action” signifies that prayer and action are inseparable. We hope you will join us and make this part of your Lenten journey this year.

Starting February 18, our pastor Hubert will be offering a 5-part Lenten Studies at St. Paul’s United Church in Thunder Bay, as part of his own studies. We’ll take a closer look at some of the root causes of poverty, and explore our own role, attitude and knowledge around these issues from a biblical perspective.

We’ll partially be using the wonderful resource “My Neighbour – Our Community” as developed by the LSPC (Lakehead Social Planning Council), which offers us some powerful stories of real people who experienced different aspects of poverty right here in Thunder Bay.

Contact pastor Hubert for more info, or Karen at St. Paul’s at 345-5864.

Sunday Feb. 17 will be an extra busy day at Pinegrove with our traditional Pancake and Sausage Lunch served right after the service (11:30 am) until approx. 2:00 pm. (or when the last person leaves).                                              Come and join us for the best Finnish pancakes and sausages around! Coffee, tea, orange juice and great company included. And all that for a free-will donation toward the Mission & Service Fund.

Just the thing for a cold and snowy day: tomorrow (Saturday), starting at 10:00, we’ll get together in the church basement for some fun scrapbooking and crafts – and enjoy laughter and each other’s company.  Some supplies, coffee, tea and cookies will be provided; please bring your own lunch if you plan to be there for lunch. Hope to see you there!

Please plan to stay a little longer for our Annual Meeting, immediately following after our (brief) Sunday service, this Jan. 27.  We aim to be done within 1.5 hrs. A chili lunch and rolls, coffee, tea and cookies will be provided, so we’ll be well looked after. Please use this great opportunity to contribute to the life of our faith family.
